Excellent Bible Study Software that is Free.

There is nothing like turning and touching the pages of the Bible as you study Scripture! The feel of the pages, the highlighting of the words, brings you that much closer to God. There are times during intense Bible Study that you want to quickly look up Scripture after Scripture, without having to flip through page after page during an intense study, so here are a few very good recommendations for great software!

I absolutely love E-Sword, a Bible Software written by Rick Meyers. The layout is very easy to follow, there are several Bible Editions that you can download at no cost, and if you prefer to use NIV or HCSB for example, you can purchase those for a minimal charge; I think I paid 9.99 for the HCSB version, a onetime fee. Excellent! E-Sword also has Commentaries that you pick and download and several versions of Bible Dictionaries as well. It has a selection of books that you may choose from as well as other reference books as well! My favourite part is the section that you can use to write your own study notes, you can save your finished notes either under the date, subject, or as a daily journal. The software even has several colors of highlighters to use to highlight important scripture as well. If you a hand’s on person like me, that is a plus!!! It also has a version for you iphone and the Ipad as well. The link to this is http://www.e-sword.net.

Prayer Journal X5

I love my prayer journal software! It is free software written by Hall Miller Ministries. http://www.hallee.org/PrayerJournal.htm . It is somewhat of data entry software, and it is very easy to use. It also has a downloadable instruction manual, so be sure to include that in your download. I can actually enter individual names and it will keep a log of the date and information I entered is saved, then the next time I go back in, I add my additional notes as well. You can either keep your prayers for them on-going, or once a prayer has been answered, there is a place for you to enter the answer as well! I absolutely love this software, for you can make it as easy or as advanced as you like, it is all up to you! This software is great for serious prayer warriors who want to add details and Scripture when praying for a person!

I am a person that when I pray I prefer to write them down. I find that I easily get distracted when I am praying silently, and my mind tends to wander so this software is perfect for me. It is an online journal, which can be password protected, and tracked by date. The actual title of your log for that particular date is saved so when you see your menu it will show you the date and the title of your entry. Very cool! You can buy the updated version, for a yearly minimal fee, which I believe is 19.00 a year that includes very cool stationary, and fonts to use, it is your choice, the free version has been perfect thus far. The website for this software is http://penzu.com.

ITunes University

ITunes has a great part of their program, it’s the ITunes University. If you go to the ITunes store in the iTunes university section you can find hundreds of study videos from selected universities that are used in their actual classes!  This is a great way to utilize free additional resources to enhance your learning environment. I recommend Liberty University, but I am partial to them for that is my Alumni!  http://www.apple.com/itunes.

You-Version Bible

This is great software to use on your computer, Ipad, or phone. I absolutely love the fact that it will read the Bible aloud to you and offers so many Bible translations, including the HCSB, which is my favourite. https://www.bible.com

Transformed in My Spiritual Health ~ Week 1

“Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Cor. 5:17 (NIV)

This week we will talked about transformation in our Spiritual Health. Rick Warren describes the seven habits  that is needed to have a positive spiritual health:

1. I must love Jesus Supremely. (Luke 14:26). Spiritual health is measure by Love.

Mark 12:29-30 “  “This is the most important,” Jesus answered: Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is One.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’

2. I must meet with Jesus Daily. (Proverbs 8:34) “  Anyone who listens to me is happy, watching at my doors every day, waiting by the posts of my doorway.’  You talk to God via Prayer, He responds back to you through His Word.

3. I must Study and Do his Word.  (Psalm 1:1-3)”   How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers!   Instead, his delight is in the LORD’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.  He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. “

4.  I must tithe my Income. (Malachi 3:10)”   Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this way,” says the LORD of Hosts. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure. ”   You can never out give God!!

5.  I must learn to love other believers! (John 13:35)  “By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

1 John 4:20, “ If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother he has seen cannot love the God he has not seen. “

Spiritual Growth happens in Community!

6.  I must serve others unselfishly. (Mark 10:45) “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life–a ransom for many.”

7. I must pass on the Good News!  (2 Timothy 2:2) ” And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. “

Rick Warren goes on to say that” We are going to Heaven because somebody told you about Jesus Christ. Don’t break the chain, tell other’s about Jesus. If you don’t tell somebody then who is going to tell them? Jesus says to be a Disciple you must pass on the Good News.

” Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:19-20

Announcing New Bible Study “Made to Crave” by Lysa Terkeurst

WAWL Women’s Ministry is excited to announce another great Bible Study! Join us on our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/wawlhealthybodies/

Cynthia Sullivan will lead this study beginning  on February 16, 2014 at 9:00 PM Eastern time. We will meet every Sunday night for one hour to discuss a chapter a week. Please make sure you have your book before class and are ready to dive in!

Book Abstract, taken from Lysa Terkeurst website,

“Has food become more about frustration than fulfillment? Made to Crave is the missing link between a woman’s desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen. Author Lysa TerKeurst personally understands the battle that women face. In Made to Crave, she will help you:

  • Break the cycle of “I’ll start again on Monday,” and feel good about yourself today.
  • Stop agonizing over numbers on the scale and make peace with your body.
  • Replace rationalization that leads to diet failure with wisdom that leads to victory.
  • Reach your healthy goals and grow closer to God through the process.

This book is not a how-to manual or the latest, greatest dieting plan. Made to Crave is a helpful companion to use alongside whatever healthy eating approach you choose — a book and Bible study to help you find the “want to” in how  to make healthy lifestyle changes.”

Fixing the Broken Pieces in Our Lives

If I had to give an answer right now about the weakest area in my Spiritual Walk with God, I would have to say that it is my money management/ tithing. It has always been one area in my life that I could never quite get a handle on. I am finally admitting my major flawed area in my life, asking Him for forgiveness, and giving it all over Him to fix! It is just like a small child breaking a toy, and then bringing the broken pieces over to their parent to fix! That is me, and I am standing in faith that my Father will fix it, turning my broken clay pot into something brand new and beautiful. I know that with God there is always my part and His part. He will stand patiently and wait for me to bring all the pieces of my life to Him, but I have to do my part; bring him the pieces.

I know through reading his Word that transformation takes time. In His perfection, He never makes something anything other than complete, but I know there is a process.

Taking my broken pieces of pottery means that he will completely  break apart the jagged pieces, and re-create the pottery forming a new cup. It is after it is formed that He will put it in the oven baking it to perfection.

What is someone to do during this process? First and foremost, our job is to admit our shortcomings, and sins asking the Father for forgiveness! Once we have asked for forgiveness, it is time to let go of the broken item. Do not give something to God, and then because of your own impatience snatch it back from Him!

During the rebuilding process it is for our benefit to really get to know the Father’s Word, our instruction manual for life, the Bible. It is in these pages, that most if not all your growth will occur. How do you know what God wants you to do? What does He expect? Read the Bible! His directions are clear and concise. All children including big children (adults) do better with structure, order, and wise counsel.

If you are not currently growing with the Word of God,, get into a Bible Study! They are all over the place: churches, online small groups, Christian Ministries, etc. There are so many that are free, and you do not even have to leave your house. (Internet.)
